In this series, The Couch Next Door brings episodes designed to be short mental health check-ins focusing on a particular area of mental health and the therapeutic process. This first series highlights various aspects of introspection in the world of mental health. These episodes are designed to give you points to ponder. Here’s what I’m asking of you–as you listen, think about how you are doing well in this area, how you could improve, and who you think might also need encouragement in that area and pay it forward.

Giving words of comfort to our younger self can offer up emotional stability that wasn't offered up in the exact way we needed as a young person. What do our rants tell us? What information can we pay attention to? Let's check-in on our rants! Going first, giving space to your feelings, and sharing your rants can promote community with others because it gives an opportunity for validation and connection. Rants have intention while complaining does not.
