ENNEA-SEASON

The Couch Next Door brings an entire season about the Enneagram. The Enneagram is a personality typing system that focuses on a person’s internal motivations, highlighting how we operate in growth and stress which gives a more accurate snapshot of our whole personhood. It is often described as simply complicated. What a journey it was to observe two strangers connect as they spoke about how they see the world through their Enneagram Number.

    Enneagram 8

    (Amy Saenz & Vanessa Queen)

Welcome two of my Enneagram 8 Friends back to the show. Vanessa and Amy both appeared in my first season and have returned to talk all about how they see the world through the lens of an Enneagram 8. We laughed a lot! And I also learned a lot!

    Enneagram 1

    (Melaina Hagerup & Mike Queen)

The Enneagram 1s talk all about that pesky inner critic and also how they value a job well done and right. Mike and Melaina give us all some good advice on how to care for the 1s in our life well.

    Enneagram 2

    (Elizabeth Mullins & Jessica McDaniel)

My fellow 2s came on the show , so you really got 3 perspectives on being a 2! I’m a sucker for validation so I had so much fun chatting with Elizabeth and Jessica on how we see the world as Enneagram 2s. We all agree that our focus is so much on others that knowing what we need is a very tricky question to answer but we definitely love acknowledgment as a form of appreciation.

    Enneagram 3

    (Melia Graber & Carly Chavez)

The 3s brought the info! From learning what failure looks like to them to explaining how being a chameleon is an asset to their achievements not something for the rest of us to be suspicious of. These Enneagram 3s let me ask the deep, hard questions to get to know what it’s like for them to live in this world and the joy they find in a lot of their tasks.

    Enneagram 4

    (Julie Jack & Brittany Holmstrom)

The conversation with the Enneagram 4s was so beautiful. It was such a joy to be a part of the connection that Brittany and Julie had as they discussed what it’s like to see the world through the lens of a 4. To feel a sense of belonging and acceptance for their uniqueness is something that 4s deeply desire. They bring such authenticity to the world and truly just want to sit with you wherever you may find yourself. What a gift.

    Enneagram 5

    (Sean Banks & Ellie Rubin)

This show was extra special to me because Sean and Ellie gave insight into my favorite 5, my husband. Listen closely to how we can support them well and value all of the thinking that they do. It’s always a good reminder to be aware of their motivation to conserve energy and that the idea of recharge means something very different for a 5.

    Enneagram 6

    (Kristen Nash & Rhonda Gant)

The enneagram 6 is the number that is most represented in the world. On the surface we can see the reason being because we live in a stressful world with anxiety on the rise. But hearing what these 6s have to say about the importance of being prepared and adaptable makes having a lot of 6s in the world a comfort in my opinion.

    Enneagram 7

    (Leigh Cambre & Melody Lusk)

Leigh & Melody brought the party to The Couch Next Door! I would expect nothing less from these Enneagram 7s. What a joy it was to hear what it’s like to see the world as a 7. It is a lot of fun but it’s also important for us to understand that their motivation for fun is a way to cope with unpleasant feelings. What a gift their superpower of reframing is to them and the world!

    Q & A

    (Mary Munger)

I brought the podcast’s Enneagram Coach back to the show to answer questions I received over this season. Marty Munger joined us again to dive a little bit deeper and clarify some of the ins and outs of the Enneagram for us to have a better understanding of this personality typing system.

    Mistyping & the Typing Journey

    (Brittany Holmstrom)

This bonus episode dives into typing and mistyping. I talk with a podcast regular, Brittany Holmstrom, on her typing journey. She mistyped as a 2 for over 10 years and just recently discovered she is a 4. I’ve said throughout this season that mistyping is common and I wanted to feature an episode of encouragement and knowledge to help us with our typing journey.

    (Jason Fraser)

My husband, Jason, came back to help me wrap up the Ennea-Season. We discuss his initial skepticism of the Enneagram and what really helped him to come around. We also deep dive into how the Enneagram has helped us as a couple. I can’t speak enough about how it has transformed our perspectives of one another. Be sure to listen to this episode past the credits for a special treat!
